Ideas continue to roll in to Bill and Michell.

The Project Team would like to periodically highlight projects that have been submitted in hopes of inspiring you to do the same. Whether approved or not, they have gotten our wheels turning about ways to continually improve our business practices.

Currently, the appropriate groups are carrying out Brenda Knight’s idea to alleviate the risk of unreturned government travel cards (GTC) and purchase cards from employees who have separated from the Board.

Angelique Peterson had the idea for an office assistant engagement program in which a high-level, skill-based, instructional program would be established to increase performance and skill sets. This program will allow three-year term office assistants expanded opportunities in obtaining long-term, permanent employment, which will in turn increase value within the Board. Bill and Michell agree that this idea has merit and have decided along with Chief Human Capital Officer Dave Harmon to implement her suggestion. They will welcome Angelique’s thoughts on enhancing the Office Assistant Program to more clearly articulate the training.

Mike Accornero submitted two ideas. First, a proposal to increase the number and quality of ideas submitted through the Power of 500 innovation initiative. At Bill and Michell’s prompting, the Project Team fleshed this out further to provide recommendations for incentives. Secondly, he submitted a proposal which outlined how to help staff see how their individual service visions connect with the division mission and goals. Michell discussed this with the HR team. The team did use his suggestions to inform the next iteration of the 3Cs Conversations program and the training for roll out.

Stephanie Thompson-Brown shared her idea to give employees a stipend to be used toward a gym membership/fitness activities or to take up to one day of leave to participate in community service. Michell and Bill feel that this should be included as a part of a total compensation program, instead of a stand-alone payment. Accordingly, HR has committed to include this as a part of their ongoing review of the Board’s compensation program. Additionally, they both support participation in community service programs; however in the past, there were legal barriers to this.

Stay tuned for more updates on submitted ideas. Again, we thank you for your submissions and look forward to highlighting your ideas next!

As a reminder, the Legendary Service Project Team is here to assist you, whether it’s help with the form or answering questions.
